State-owned bank BNI will be supporting geothermal growth in Indonesia with a green financing commitment for up to 500 MW with PT Geo Dipa Energi.

Indonesian state-owned entities PT Geo Dipa Energi (Geo Dipa) and Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI) have signed a “Commitment on Green Project and Operation Financing” to support 500 MW of geothermal development. The signing of the agreement was done as part of the recently held Indonesia International Sustainability Forum (IISF) event held in Jakarta.

BNI Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo stated that the agreement is a concrete manifestation of BNI’s support for the development of green energy projects and the clean energy transition in Indonesia. Okki also added that it strengthens BNI’s position as a key player in green financing.

“BNI is committed to continuing to support clean energy projects that provide economic benefits while preserving the environment. We hope this partnership can serve as a concrete example of collaboration between the financial and energy sectors in realizing a sustainable future,” Okki concluded.

Geo Dipa operates both the Patuha and Dieng geothermal fields in Java. Work is already underway to expand the installed capacities in both these fields, with the drilling campaign completed and EPC contracts awarded separately for the Dieng and Patuha Unit 2 projects. These will account for about 110 MW of additional capacity. The company also holds exploration rights in greenfield sites including Candi Umbul Telemoyo and Arjuno-Welirang.
