The IGA is calling for photos of geothermal heating projects in cities and buildings as part of a Geothermal Photo Book that will be launched at WGC 2026.

The International Geothermal Association (IGA) together with EBN BV is seeking for contributions for an upcoming Geothermal Photo Book which will tell a visual story of how geothermal heat is being deployed in cities and buildings around the world. The focus will be on geothermal heating in the built environment using medium-deep to deep geothermal heat resources (25 to 120 °C).

Please send all your submissions to photos@worldgeothermal.org. Photos will be accepted until 3 April 2026.

Photos on the following subjects are being accepted:

  • Geothermal district heating
  • Urban geothermal projects
  • Drilling and construction in cities
  • Energy centres, substations, and heat networks
  • Geothermal integrated into buildings and neighborhoods

Power production, greenhouses, or ground source heat pumps are NOT in the scope of the project.

Images submitted must be real photographs, and must be owned by the sender and free of third-party rights. Imaged generated by AI or enhanced using generative AI tools will NOT be accepted. Contributors will receive a photo credit in the publication, an official IGA Contributor certificate, and international visibility as part of a curated global publication.

For each submission, please provide:

  • High-quality photo(s)
  • Project name, location, and year
  • Short project description (2 – 3 lines)

The photo book will be officially launched at the World Geothermal Congress 2026, happening in Calgary, Canada. It will also be published as a digital publication.
