Seydisehir Municipality in Konya, Türkiye to launch six-well geothermal exploration drilling campaign

The municipality of Seydisehir Konya, Türkiye in planning to drill geothermal exploration wells in the Kayak neighborhood for potential greenhouse utilization.

The Seydisehir Municipality in the Konya Province in Türkiye is launching geothermal resource exploration and survey work at a licensed site within the district’s borders. The project plans to drill a total of six wells – four production wells and two reinjection wells.

The work will be carried out in an area of approximately 5,000 hectares between the neighborhoods of Karabulak, Boyali, Muradiye, Bostandere, Gevrekli, and Akçalar. If the geothermal survey results are positive, the area is expected to be designated a “Thermal Greenhouse Region.”

Several geothermal exploration campaigns for greenhouse and recreational utilization have been announced earlier this year.

The use of geothermal energy is targeted in greenhouse farming

The project, to be implemented by the Seydisehir Municipality, will be carried out at site IR:7 (K27d3, K27d4, L27a1) in the Kavak neighborhood. Two geothermal wells have already been drilled within the licensed area. In addition to these wells, the new project will also include four new production and two reinjection wells.

Drilling will be conducted at a depth of 1,150 ± 400 meters, targeting geothermal fluids with temperatures of approximately 35–50°C and flow rates of 40–100 l/s.
The studies will assess the reserve’s quantity and quality. If the resource is deemed productive, direct use is planned for greenhouse activities.

The Seydisehir Municipality aims to utilize the district’s geothermal energy potential for agricultural production and contribute to regional development with this project. Municipal officials state that once drilling is complete, the investment process could continue with private sector partnerships.
