Dewhurst Group to receive exploration license for Cóndor Paipa geothermal project, Colombia
The Government of Colombia will soon be awarding the geothermal exploration license for the Cóndor Paipa project in Boyaca to Dewhurst Group.
The National Government of Colombia, through the Ministry of Mines and Energy, will be awarding the official geothermal exploration permit for the Cóndor Paipa geothermal project located in the municipality of Paipa in the department of Boyaca in Colombia, to Dewhurst Group.
The permit is the result of a technical and administrative process through which compliance with applicable regulatory requirements was verified, allowing progress towards the exploration phase of the geothermal resource in this area. The project is being developed in an area identified as having geothermal potential based on geological analyses and resource assessments that have been conducted over several years. This progress positions Paipa as one of the areas of interest for geothermal development in Colombia.
The Cóndor Paipa Project is promoted by the Dewhurst Group using an approach that integrates technical resource assessment, environmental management, and collaboration with the local community. The objective is to evaluate the potential of the geothermal resource for the possible generation of renewable electricity, as well as the direct use of geothermal heat.
Direct use applications considered include sectors such as agribusiness, tourism, scientific research and academic training, which can benefit from the use of thermal resources.

The permit awarding ceremony
The geothermal exploration permit will be officially delivered to Dewhurst Group at an event taking place on 27 February 2026 at the Pablo Solano Auditorium in Paipa, Boyaca.
The event will include a formal ceremony with the possible participation of the Minister of Mines and Energy, Edwin Palma, and will bring together national and territorial authorities, control bodies, representatives of the business sector, international cooperation, academia and the local community. The ceremony aims to formalize the granting of the permit and serve as a meeting place for the various stakeholders involved in the development of the project and the advancement of geothermal energy in the country.
